Architecture and Vehicle Layout

Starting from User Needs, this workpackage is aimed at developing the most appropriate layout and vehicle architecture for freights operations in urban context, i.e. maximising the reduction of urban congestion and operating in narrow roads typical of city centres (low entry medium vehicle with reduced axles distance and cab width). In addition, Power-train, Body Solution and auxiliary systems for Urban Goods Delivery and Services will be designed with special attention to CO2 emissions and fuel consumption reduction in line with the Kyoto agreement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Main objectives :


  • design new vehicle architecture appropriate to freights operating in urban context;
  • optimise vehicle layout to reduce urban congestion to facilitate operations in narrow roads - typical in European city centers;
  • analyse innovative Body solutions integrated with OEMs new vehicle concepts;
  • design low entry medium vehicle, whose capabilities are extended to a typical multi-role flexible vehicle capable to operate in different types of mission (and with equal vehicle capacity);
  • design vehicle architecture and driveline with special attention to CO2 emissions and fuel consumption reduction in line with the Kyoto Protocol in urban environments caused by fright transport.
